Dr. Christophe Wiart is the general secretary of the Asian Society of Pharmacognosy. Dr. Christophe Wiart appeared on HBO's Vice (TV Series) in season 3, episode 6 (episode 28 of the series), titled "The Post-Antibiotic World & Indonesia's Palm Bomb." This episode aired on April 17, 2015. This episode highlighted the need to find new treatments for infections that were previously treatable with antibiotics, but are now resistant to multiple drugs. “The last hope for the human race’s survival, I believe, is in the rainforests of tropical Asia,” said ethnopharmacologist Dr. Christophe Wiart. “The pharmaceutical wealth of this land is immense.”

Christophe Wiart PharmD, PhD, ASP (born August 12, 1967) is a French Pharmacognosist. His fields of expertise are Asian ethnopharmacology, chemotaxonomy and ethnobotany. He has collected and studied several hundred species of medicinal plants of Southeast Asia. Ethnopharmacology of medicinal plants in Asia Pacific; bioprospection, collection and identification of medicinal botanical samples and phytochemical and pharmacological study for the identification of lead compounds as novel antibacterial, antiviral, anticancer, and anti-diabetic principles from rare plants from the rainforest of Southeast Asia and from medicinal plants used by locals

Dr. Chen graduated from the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1985 after 5 years training in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and western medicine. He completed his Ph.D. in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012. Dr. Chen serves as a Commissioner (Educator Member) and the Secretary of Accreditation Commission of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (ACAOM). Dr. Chen has practiced acupuncture and Chinese medicine for more than 27 years, especially having rich experience in treating different neurological and mental-emotional disorders as well as providing acupuncture care for women’s health and cancer patients. He has published more than 40 research papers in various medical journals in different countries, two of which were cited in Current Bibliographies in Medicine: Acupuncture (1970 -1997) by the National Library of Medicine. He has also published eight acupuncture books, such as The Effectiveness of Acupuncture Treatment on Various Diseases(1990) and Guide of Consulting Acupuncture(1994) and in 1992 he participated in writing two large-scale reference works: New Edition of Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion and Complete Works of Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion. He is a Fellow of the International College of Acupuncture and Electro-Therapeutics (F.I.C.A.E.), a Visiting Professor of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine in the ICAE and an Editorial Committee member of Acupuncture & Electro-Therapeutics Research, the International Journal. Dr. Chen is also an Executive Council member of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) and the Executive President of the National Federation of Chinese TCM Organizations (NFCTCMO).

Mohammed Hmamouchi has obtained PhD in Phytochemistry (1986, Laval University in Canada). After his graduation, he gets research and teaching positions in the faculty of medicine and pharmacy in Rabat. In 1999, he has published his first main book; it is the fruit of several years of research and reflection, on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants in Morocco. In 2004 he was appointed by Moroccan government to develop and implement national policies on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. He oversaw build and equipment. He leads, as a Director, of a First National Institute on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (African and Arab). In 2011 he became President of the Arab Federation of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. He was also the focal point of different international conventions and agreements, and coordinator of national and international MAP networks (Tempus: European Union Projects). He managed several research projects, contracts and cooperation agreement. He assisted business creation, cooperatives for the production of MAP and product development opportunities. He has worked with many international institutions and companies in over 30 countries. He is a member of several professional bodies and has received many grants and awards. In 2013 he became Advisor to the Minister of Higher Teacher Education, Scientific Research. Dr. Hmamouchi continuing to do research, to be invited to give plenary lectures at the Congress (Guest Speakers) and also to make expertise.

Dr. Hmamouchi has researched in the following areas: Ethnomedicine, Ethnopharmocology, Agronomy, Phytochemistry, Biological Activity, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacology & Toxicology, Conservation of Medicinal, Phytomedicines, perfumery, culinary herbs, Aromatic plants and Herbal Plants, Crops Marketing & Trade. He headed several departments and agencies for training, research, innovation. He has published more than 100 papers in reputed journals, 4 books and has been serving as an editorial board member and Chief Editor of International Journal (www. AJMAP.org). He received many grants and awards such as the ISESCO, President of the Republic of Tunisia and European Business Innovation (Clusters).

Peter Taylor is currently Professor of Microbiology at UCL. He obtained a PhD in Medical Microbiology at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School and was a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Frank Unger’s group at the Sandoz Research Institute in Vienna working at the chemistry – biology interface on novel agents for the treatment of bacterial infections, before taking up a faculty position at the Leeds University, UK in 1978. He returned to industry in 1981 to work for Bayer AG at their pharmaceutical research center in Wuppertal, Germany to renew interests in new paradigms for bacterial infections and from 1983 to 1985 represented Bayer in a joint commercial venture with Yale University, based in New Haven, CT. He returned to the UK in 1985 to help establish a new research center in advanced drug formulation and delivery in Horsham, West Sussex for Ciba-Geigy. He maintained a group investigating liposomal delivery after the merger of Ciba-Geigy and Sandoz and left Novartis in 1998 to return to academia in London to reestablish his microbiological credentials. His research interests involve novel approaches to the treatment of infectious disease. He has undertaken various roles for the Medical Research Council and recently served on the MRC’s Infections and Immunity Board. He has also represented UK on the Executive and Management Boards of the European Union Joint Programming Initiative on Antimicrobial Resistance in Brussels. His interest in the microbiology of space flight has led to service on UK Space Agency working groups

He researches novel approaches to the treatment of infection, with a focus on the development of antibacterial therapeutics that suppress or abrogate the emergence of drug resistant variants or compromise the virulence of systemic pathogens such as methicillin-resistant staphylococci (MRSA), Bacillus anthracis (the causative agent of inhalation anthrax) and the neonatal neuropathogen Escherichia coli K1. He has wide-ranging interest in natural products, in particular the capacity of catechin gallates derived from Japanese green tea to modulate the beta-lactam resistance of pathogenic staphylococci. He also studies the impact of spaceflight on the fitness of pathogenic bacteria that may contaminate space vessels.

Professor Xu is currently the Dean of the School of Pharmacy. In recognition of his distinguished achievements, Prof. Xu was selected in the Thousand Talents Program. Prof. Xu obtained his Ph.D degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994 from Japan Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University. He has previously served as the Scientific Officer and R & D Manager in the Institute of Chinese Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the Deputy General Manager and Senior Medical Advisor of Hutchison Whampoa (China) Ltd, the Board of Director and R & D Director at Shanghai Hutchison Pharmaceuticals. From 2001 to 2010, he served as the Deputy Director of Hong Kong Jockey Club Institute of Chinese Medicine. His major social appointments include: the Vice-President of The Foundation Conference of TCM Pharmaceutical Analysis Specialty Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Medicine Patent Evaluation Expert of Chinese Medicine Council of Hong Kong, the Co-Chairman of International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine (ICMCM). He is also currently the Associate Editor of "Chinese Medicine" and the Editorial Board Member of more than 10 scientific journals. Prof. Xu has published more than 200 SCI papers, and obtained one PCT patent and six US patents

Prof. Xu Hongxi has completed his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 1994 from Japan Toyama Medical and Pharmaceutical University. His current research interest is focused on drug discovery from natural resources, as well as the development of botanical dietary supplements from herbal medicines. Specifically, Prof. Xu is interested in finding natural lead compounds from medicinal plants; and in developing new drug based on Chinese medicines against different disease targets such as cancer, HIV, HSV, bird flu, HBV and cancer chemoprevention

Professor Dr. Rama Swamy Nanna is well known Nationally and Internationally for his outstanding research contributions Plant Biotechnology in particular. He has made important contributions in conservation of medicinally/commercially important endangered forest tree species by using in vitro culture technology. His innovative research resulted in developing protocols for conservation of endangered medicinally important plants; molecular cloning of HSP genes and their expression in tomato; developing transgenic disease resistant soya bean; salt tolerant and thermo tolerant transgenic tomato and also identifying certain bio-molecules against diabetics, hypertension, psoriasis, human/plant pathogenic fungi and bacteria etc... isolated from various medicinal plants. Recently, he has established the work on green synthesis of nano particles and their effect on human pathogens. Prof. Rama Swamy visited Netherlands, France, Germany, Belgium, Sri Lanka, Brazil and USA on different types of International Fellowship Programs. His talent as a teacher-researcher in the field of Biotechnology has been well-known and appreciated as he has won a number of coveted awards and honours: He received the Academy of Plant Sciences India Award-2005; Andhra Pradesh Scientist Award-2007 (APCOST), Government of AP, Research Excellency Award-2009, AP State Meritorious Best Teacher Award-2010, Talented Biotechnologist Award-2011 (Srilanka), Talented Scientist Award-2012 (USA) , Outstanding Faculty Award-2015 and other prestigious awards for his outstanding contributions to the field of Biotechnology.

Prof. Dr. Rama Swamy Nanna has been working on the conservation of endangered commercially/medicinally important plants by using in vitro culture technology, molecular cloning of drought tolerant/biotic stress tolerant transgenic plants, isolation & screening of bioactive molecules and green biosynthesis of nanoparticles from ethnomedicinal/ pharmaceutical plants.

Dr. Yousef Alomi, Head of General Administration of Pharmaceutical Care Administration, and Head of National Drug Information Center, MOH Saudi Arabia Dr. Alomi is a product of King Saud University confirmed with the degree of Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the year 1992. After six-years of higher study, he earned his Master of Clinical Pharmacy from the same university in the 1998. He is an affiliated clinical instructor of Purdue University in the USA. He is adjunct assistant professor of King Saud University college of Pharmacy. Dr. Alomi was a member of Pharmacy Board at Saudi commission for health Specialties for 1998-2002 and 2008-2012 and Head of Pharmacy Accreditation committee in 2010-2012. He was team member of establishing 1st Pharmacy Residency Program in Saudi Arabia . In the year 2005 he obtained Board Certification of Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS). In the year 2008, he obtained his diploma in business administration from American University in Egypt in 2007, and he obtained a Board Certification of Nutrition Support Pharmacy (BCNSP) in 2009. Dr. Alomi worked as clinical pharmacist in critical care area and nutrition support. He is He is establish and implement several programs at MOH Hospitals at first time; Clinical Pharmacy Program, Medication Safety Program, Pain Management Program, Anticoagulation Program and Pharmacy Infection Control, including 30 Adult and 20 Pediatrics Clinical Pharmacy Program; he is the founder of Mass Gathering Pharmaceutical Care in Saudi Arabia He became a member of advisory board of the Arab Pharmaceutical Journal in 2010. He became as Pharmacy Board Member of Saudi Commission of Health Care Specialities 2010-2013. Sameh AbouZid is currently Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy at Beni-Suef University, Egypt. He obtained B.Sc. degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Faculty of Pharmacy, Cairo University. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, The University of Tokyo. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. M.I. Choudhary. He is working as a University staff member at Faculty of Pharmacy, Beni-Suef University since March, 2005. He was promoted to Associate professorship on December, 2010. He was a visiting scholar at the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Guido Pauli, UIC on 2014. He supervised 10 master and doctoral students working in isolation, structure elucidation and testing biological activity of plant secondary metabolites

His main research of interest is isolation and purification of secondary metabolites from higher plants. He specializes in elucidation of their structure using chemical and spectroscopic means. He is interested in testing biological activity for the extracts and secondary metabolites prepared from higher plants. He also studies production of important secondary metabolites in plant tissue culture and using different approaches for yield enhancement
